City Branding
Temanggung is a small city surrounded by two of the highest mountains in Central Java, Indonesia. It is the place where the finest tobacco leaves in the world are harvested. The city is also known for its other natural resources (coffee beans, vanilla) and its majestic view. The altitude and dynamism of the city is represented by the curvature of the logotype, which resemble Javanese ancient writings / Hanacaraka.

There were hundreds, if not more minor revisions during the course of several months. Every little change brings the logotype further from its root, Zuzana Licko's Triplex.
The philosophy behind Temanggung's graphic elements. The amalgamation between God-given and man-made elements. The nature is represented by tobacco leaf & flower, the view by two mountains which surrounds Temanggung, the culture by kuda lumping, a traditional show supposedly involving magical, supernatural powers, and the history by a temple, which are scattered throughout the outskirts of the city.
The replication and overlaying patterns above each other created new graphic elements which resonate with Temanggung's brand identity.
