PSA's for Fentanyl Awareness

PSA's for Fentanyl Awareness

For this project, I created three posters for a PSA campaign. I was able to choose the topic of my campaign, and after examining several options, I decided to work on fentanyl awareness.

Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid and is up to 50 times stronger than heroin. It is prescribed by doctors for severe pain, but it can be made very cheaply in illegal labs. Fentanyl is flooding the illegal drug market because it is cheap and strong. Many drugs are now laced with fentanyl, and because it's rarely manufactured properly, it becomes a real danger to anyone using illegal drugs.

I decided to focus my campaign on young people who are experimenting with drugs. Many don't know about fentanyl and assume their drugs are safe, only to accidentally overdose and die. I spent more time researching and pondering on this issue than I have in previous projects. There was much I initially didn't understand, and I'll admit that I still struggle to understand certain things about the issue. But the project needed to be completed so I pressed on.
This time, after brainstorming, I created digital sketches. I found it difficult to communicate my ideas succinctly.

And as always, I refined my sketches.
I tried to imagine what messages would stand out to young people, that wouldn't seem tacky, and make a real impact. I asked other people for their feedback as well. I eventually created three concepts for my PSA campaign.

However, I didn't think it was very effective to repeat the same message over and over with different images. Since all my campaigns had the same look, I decided to pick the most effective concepts and put them together. After more refining, I felt more confident that they were working. Even though I'd like more time to work on this difficult topic, I'm pleased with the result. So, here are the final posters...
