CHILLY'S   |   REUSABLE CUTLERY SET

2023

Since 2017, our enduring partnership with Chilly’s has thrived. Empowered by a shared vision, we set out to replace single-use cutlery with a reusable solution for eating on the go. Our challenge: shape an eco-friendly, urban-friendly cutlery set – perfect for impromptu katsu curry lunches or savouring pho. Prioritising eating experience, sustainability, and ease of use.
The comprehensive set houses four stainless steel utensils, dishwasher-safe for enduring use. Nestled in a recycled polymer tray, they rest within a sleek aluminium case for premium portability.

Eating Experience
As we crafted our cutlery set, we focused on comfort, ease of use, and the joy of eating. This approach sets our design apart. For example, our stainless steel knife slices sourdough with ease, and the spoon's depth is ideal for slurping a bowl of pho. Clean-up is a breeze with dishwasher-safe cutlery. A stainless steel telescopic straw and brush complete the set, fitting neatly underneath. This versatile straw works with any cup or bottle, making every bite delightful.

Compact but not compromised
This cutlery collection rests elegantly within a sleek aluminium case. Our choice to create full-sized utensils reflects our strong dedication to practicality and eating experience, a contrast to the foldable options often found. This ingenious design ensures that storage remains tidy and efficient, while the cutlery maintains its hallmark portability, durability, and unwavering functionality.

Sustainable Materials
Our design's essence lies in sustainability and durability, each material chosen with intention. Aluminium, prized for its lightweight strength, emerged as the prime selection for the case – an eco-conscious choice that aligns perfectly with our reusable, enduring ethos. Notably, this aluminium case is not only 100% recyclable but also boasts a substantial recycled content. Furthering our commitment to minimizing environmental impact, we opted for a blend of 80% rPET to craft the cutlery tray. This choice ensures a minimal carbon footprint without sacrificing functionality.
Discover
Our journey took us deep into the market, where we closely studied competitors. What we found was a clear gap – a lack of a reusable cutlery set designed to enhance the urban on-the-go dining experience. Unlike foldable camping sets, our approach stands apart, catering specifically to urban scenarios.

Design
Our journey included many rounds of improvements, all with the goal of bringing home-like comfort to dining while keeping everything easy to carry. Our attention to the small things led us to perfect the spoon's depth for the ultimate slurping experience. In a clever twist, this same process also allowed us to efficiently nest the fork.

Develop
Focused on our design vision, we delved deep into details. We explored sleeve materials and picked aluminium for its exceptional durability, lightweight quality, and eco-friendly recyclability. Simultaneously, we perfected the cutlery tray's design as a single moulded component, blending visual charm with smooth mouldability.

Deliver
Our teamwork was a path of collaboration, dedicated to achieving flawless quality. A significant goal was enhancing the cutlery tray, thoughtfully made from 80% recycled PET. With precision every detail was refined, exploring gate placement, polymer blends, injector pin locations, and reviewing samples.

For us, greatness arises from the tiniest details. With passionate commitment, we immersed ourselves in perfecting every mechanical aspect of our creation, using interactive design and prototypes. From the satisfying 'click' of the telescopic straw folding to the smooth glide of the cutlery tray from its aluminium case – each movement is carefully fine-tuned.
