I was given the task of designing an enamel badge for the University's creative arts' school of communication. The aim was to produce enamel badge designs that represent the idea/concept of communication, and the brief was clear and simple.
When I originally started designing in Adobe Illustrator, my first thought was to make the pins/badges in bespoke forms, but I opted to stick with the circle shape due to the brief.
Here is an outline of my Illustrator designs. I didn't know what to write or what terms best described "communication" for the department of communication. So I used basic positive statements like "you rock" and the like. Also, as a Graphic designer, these are some of the comments that previous clients have said to me that have made me pleased.
Finally, the patterns in the lovely colors I chose.
I submitted the designs to the institution, and the "You Rock" design was chosen. I proceeded by making a few tweaks to the chosen design. The design's distinguishing features are the eyes and the colors. I believe the new eyes gave it new life. Overall, I was happy with the results.
