“How religious engagement increases freedoms around the world,” by Brian Grim.
For Deseret Magazine, a full-page illustration on a policy story about how to best advance the human right of freedom of religion or belief.
The author breaks down two camps he calls “advocates” and “builders”.
Essentially, both camps champion religious pluralism and freedom, but they take on different strategic approaches. “Advocates” often push government and courts to address issues of religious freedom violations, while “Builders” seek to engage with local communities to foster a sense of long-lasting social harmony within multifaith countries. The author sides with the latter camp, finding that a bottom-up approach brings about enduring change.
Big big thanks to my AD Eric Gillett for having me on board for another goodie!
