1000 Cranes of Love

In Japan, there is a tradition of making 1000 paper cranes with origami paper and stringing them together when in need of prayers and hope. The crane is the national bird of Japan, and symbolizes peace, longevity, good fortune and most importantly love.

The tragic and senseless event that occurred on the night of May 23, 2014 in the college community of UCSB, known as Isla Vista, left six UCSB students dead and a community shattered. The Isla Vista community has come together like never before to mourn and remember what happened with its Week of Solidarity. One of the events was the creation and donation of 1000 paper cranes to honor the lost victims.
1000 completed paper cranes that will donated to I.V. Deli Mart in honor of the victims of May 23, 2014.
