For this project at college, we were given a list of seven typefaces to research, then choose our preferred typeface and carry out further research on it. Based on one of these typefaces we were to design a cover, which unfolded becomes a poster, for Baseline magazine. I chose Futura, and during my research I discovered that it was used on the commemorative plaque left on the moon by Apollo 11 in July 1969. I was inspired by this fact, the ideals behind the typeface’s design, and it’s strong geometric style.
