Black + White

GIF
A selection of portraits from my first solo exhibition in London. The exhibition centres around portraits of leading individuals who operate in disparate and opposing ways.

In this series I wanted to try to unify these contrasting figures in a similar style, with simple black ink wash backgrounds, black clothing and small pen drawings around their portraits that each person can be identified by. The Illustrations were created using squid ink, watercolour pencils, pen, Photoshop and finally animated in After Effects.

The illustrations are being exhibited from September 22th -28th 2014 at the Conningsby Gallery in London. Exhibtion website can be found here.

Sponored by: Wacom, Escoda Barcelona and Daler-Rowney.
The first two illustrations that were given animated features, I then moved onto seperating layers in more detail, from sketching, intial inking to final details and pen illustrations around each portrait.

Many thanks to everyone who helped me in realising this project. I hope you enjoy the work and let me know what you think about animating the portraits! - David
