This is the beginning of a redesign of the iconic Stormtrooper armour. I'm doing it in support of my goofy puppet Q&A show Ask Papaltaine. The idea is to reconceptualize the armour as something actually stylized and badass, rather than a thing that -- love it though I do -- looks like a few hunks of plastic stripped to a British actor. 

 

First up, of course, is the helmet: it's been streamlined, with as much of the  usual pieces removed as I could without eliminating the core "Stormtrooper-ness," which is the mouth and a bit of a bump on the bottom of the helmet. Removing the eyes turns the helmet into an imposing unknowable other (or, at least, that's the intent), since you don't know where he's looking, and there's nothing to connect to any humanity. 

 

Next will be the upper body of the armour!
