Restaurant design is not the layout of random types of furniture and textiles. It is the experience for the customer and the willingness to come back. The taste of food should collaborate with the interior of the space. In this project, I designed a restaurant dedicated to the cuisine from the south of Europe to give a bit of this atmosphere inside the centre of Bath, a city in England.
My themed cuisine is a seafood restaurant based on South France cuisine, culture and surrounding. When you think about this location, it seems to be posh and fancy. The atmosphere of my restaurant is different, and it evokes the surroundings of a small coastal town like Èze, Gourdon or Sainte-Agnès, located in the coastal Alps on the Côte d’Azur. From my experience, I wanted to show that the south of France is not gold and silver finishing, but it is more rustic, natural with olive trees, herbs, stones, and the cicada sound everywhere. Those small towns are quiet, with no rush. Time becomes collateral, and then the most important is the taste of your wine incorporated into the seafood dishes. I couldn’t forget about the main French thing is baguettes, tarts and croissants with chocolate. To help understand the French social origins more and the expression of the French people’s morning, I design the bakery shop on the grand floor.
As my starting point, I focused on the transformation exterior of the coastal town into restaurant interiors. The floor represents the texture of the buildings, ledges and paths. The additional elements of the structure are shutters, and thanks to the many windows in the space, I could link those things and accent the beauty of the Georgian windows. The decorative elements of the surroundings are clay water pots with olive trees which top the atmosphere up and highlight the character of the highest-located towns in the Alps. Space exploration gives you a multi-sensory experience where you can eat surrounded by shelves filled with different types of wine manufactured in local French wineries, submarine accents presented in three aquariums, and plants on the partitions and above the tables. The relationships between interior, culture and environment express what you can see in those small towns on Côte d’Azur.

Projekt restauracji to nie tylko przypadkowy układ stolików i wybór tekstylji. Jest to doświadczenie dla klienta i chęć powrotu. Smak jedzenia powinien współgrać i odpowiadać przestrzeni. W tym projekcie zaprojektowałam restauracje dedykowaną kuchni z południowej Europy, aby zaprezentować atmosferę i kuchnię tego miejsca, w samym centrum miasta Bath w Anglii.
Tematem przewodnim jest kuchnia południowej Francji, skupiającej się na owocach morza, kultury kraju oraz otaczającej naturze. Ta część Francji jest uważana za kosztowną i luksusową destynację. Atmosfera restauracji jest kompletnie inna i reprezentuje otoczenie jakie można spotkać w małych nadmorskich miasteczkach, takich jak Èze, Gourdon czy Sainte-Agnès, położone w Alpach nadmorskich Lazurowego Wybrzeża. Inspirując się własnymi doświadczeniami i odbiorem tego miejsca, chciałam przestawić jak tak na prawdę wygląda ta część Francji, że wcale nie jest pokryta złotem i srebrem. Znajdziesz tam dużo starych budynków idealnie wkomponowane w otaczającą naturę, gdzie jest wiele oliwnych drzew, ziół, kamienia i śpiew cykad. Małe miasteczka są bardzo spokojne, a mieszkańcy żyją bez pośpiechu. Czas jest nie ważny w przeciwieństwie do smaku wina połączonego z owocami morza. Nie mogłam pomiąć akcentu bagietek, tart i rogalików z czekoladą, które są nieodłączną częścią kultury francuskiej. Na parterze restauracji zaprojektowałam piekarnie, która dzięki zapachom zaprasza klientów do odwiedzenia przestrzeni.
Początkowym punktem było odzwierciedlenie zewnetrznego otoczenia nadmorskich miasteczek do wnętrza restauracji. Podłoga odpowiada murom budynków, chodników i wąskich ścieżek. Dodatkowymi elementami we wnętrzu są drewniane okienice, które dzięki dużej ilości okien w budynku, mogłam łatwo wkomponować w przestrzeń akcent elewacyjny zabudowy. Dopełnienie dekoracyjne to gliniane donice z drzewkami oliwkowymi, które podkreślają i tworzą atmosferę wysoko położonych, górskich miasteczek. Doświadczenie jakie jest nieodłączną częścią wnętrz jest oddziaływanie na różne ludzkie zmysły, gdzie możesz spożywać przepyszne południowo francuskie dania, będąc otoczonym półkami z różnymi rodzajami wina, produkowanych w miejscowych winiarniach Lazurowego Wybrzeża. Nadmorski akcent jest zauważalny dzięki trzem akwariom, wiszącej konstrukcji z roślinkami i ściankom działowym zaakcentowane świeżymi ziołami. Stosunek wnętrza, kultury i odwzorowanego środowiska wyraża to, co możesz doświadczyć będą na Lazurowym Wybrzeżu.
