Design is _____.

“Design is _____.” examines the broad possibilities, challenges, and triumphs that exist within the field of design. Featuring a variety of mediums, the exhibition highlights the diversity of SJSU’s BFA Graphic Design program while reflecting on the personal struggles and successes of individual students. Utilizing the grid system as a metaphor for our personal journey, the exhibition offers unique perspectives on what design can be, allowing viewers the opportunity to connect with the design process and engage with pieces from new perspectives. “Design is _____.” serves as a tribute to the power of the creative endeavor, reminding us that no matter our medium, design connects us all.

As part of the “Design is _____.” team, I worked to design and build an exhibition that would showcase the work and process of San José State University's BFA Graphic Design program while sharing individual student's thoughts and experiences. Through careful planning, curating, and building, we created a concise viewer experience that inspired visitors to define 'design' as they see it.
