The Dungog Film Festival is the Largest Film Festival of Australian Content in the World.
The brief was pretty simple, create a design for the Festival Party at the Dungog High School Hall that will cope with 1000 guests in a hall that will hold only 700... Oh and by the way we need to use the same hall for a sit down Gala Dinner for Opening Night as well as a VIP party and Wrap Up on other nights. We need 20m of bar space, a large dance floor and a second dance floor for a roving DJ; An Entrance Foyer with Cloakroom and Bar and a lounge area. You will need to Bump in and out while the school is being used with as little distuption to the students and teachers as possible and the budget is pretty small.
The Solution created an Entrance Foyer with 10m Feature Bar, flagged on one side with a Lounge room and the other with an anscillary dance floor that could be converted quickly to additional lounge area and cloakroom. The main hall was doused in Large Festoon Lights to lower the roof line and draped to remove any resemblance of a High School Hall.
For the Festival Party a raised island was installed to offer views over the dance floor to the stage while also incorporating a Banquet Table for the selection of Fair on offer.
