Originally I had just wanted to create a lumberjack/hipster frog with no particular goal outside of that. Later, after being inspired by a bear at the Denver Zoo, I decided to create a bear within the same universe. He just so happened to be a grumpy bear and I asked myself, "Why is he grumpy?"

 

The answer to that question was that it was the frog's fault that he is such a grouch. The bear simply wants to spend his days fishing in the shade of his favorite tree, but that all ends when the frog begins chopping down the forest. He eventually cuts down the bear's tree and a seemingly endless conflict begins.
