Graphic Design Creative Strategies
By Sam Marchetti
Intro:
This project was assigned to us with the idea of making examples of the creative strategies used in Graphic design through the use of an object. I chose a pencil because I felt it was a good representation of creativity and I wanted my designs to have meaning outside of the assignment guidelines.
Change in Material: This is mean to convey the idea that creation changes the world.

Mataphor/Simile: This presents the destructive and positive power of creation.

Juxtaposition: This design is a play on the idea of the creation being more powerful than physical weapons.

Combination: This is a representation of the difficult creative process, the pickaxe is also meant to represent an eraser as well as a tool to mine in this design.
Isolation: The idea is we can get lost in the creative process in this design and is also a sort of representation of something we all likely have in our home: a junk drawer.

Shape Similarity: This shows the similar shapes of a pizza slice and a pencil which I felt made a satisfying way to complete the negative space left by the missing pizza slice.

Change in Context/Environment
This idea was meant to convey pencils in a strange atmosphere and represent the idea of a brain storm.
