7 Creative Strategies

This project is to create a poster for each of the 7 creative strategies using an every day object. My object is a sunflower. The strategies are: Combinations, Juxtaposition, Isolation, Metaphor or Simile, Change of Context or Environment, Physical/Shape Similarity, and Material Change, Swap, or Focus.
Combination: "SUNNY BEACH"
I combined the sun with a sunflower and titled this poster, "Sunny Beach". This strategy is about combining two different or unrelated things to create a new object that still makes some sort of sense.
Juxtaposition: "MOONFLOWER"
I combined a sunflower with a moon and placed the moon within the sunflower. These objects are combined and are meant to surprise the viewer. The objects highlight the differences between two things rather than their similarities. The sunflower being open during daylight and the moon shining bright at night.
Isolation: "SUNFLOWER SEEDS"
I created this placing the sunflower amongst the sunflower seeds to isolate the object. This strategy focuses the viewer on an element in a composition by separating it visually from its surroundings or other objects.
Metaphor or Simile: "SADFLOWER"
When I think of a sunflower, I think of happiness and sunshine! I wanted to make it the opposite and make it sad and gloomy. This strategy is focused on the meaning of the image created with your object as it relates to something else.
Change of Context/Environment: "SUNBRELLA"
This strategy contrasts objects with unnatural or uncommon environments to highlight a concept or communicate an idea. I wanted to replace the umbrella she was originally holding with a sunflower as if it were an umbrella, or in this context, "sunbrella".
Physical/Shape Similarity: "SPOKEFLOWERS"
This strategy uses physical similarities to showcase connections between objects that normally don’t connect so I replaced the bike spokes with sunflowers instead.
Material Change, Swap, or Focus: "SUNNY VINYL"
This strategy swaps a material property that we are accustomed to with another. I used the sunflower as vinyl inside of the record player.
