The Brand

Elektra Fitness is a brand that wants to make exercise fun for all kinds of people. It aims to motivate people to go to the gym even if they are working out for fun or for any other reason.

The Task

The task was to create a poster for the grand opening of a new gym in Florida. They wanted the colour scheme to be fun and vibrant as well as the poster having an 80s aerobics aesthetic although they didn't want images of people doing aerobics.
I chose this colour scheme as the poster was designed in a CMYK colour space and these colours are some that would show up best in a CMYK colour space. This also keeps up with the idea from the brief that the colours needed to be bright and inviting so that people would want to come to the gym.
I chose Zuume Edge for the heading typeface as it has a rigid shape and it is good for heading type as it only types in all caps.

For the body type, I chose Franklin Gothic Medium as it is a font that works well for body type as it doesn't take attention away from the heading type.
For the final poster, the background was made up of a collection of triangles as I was inspired by geometric shapes when I was doing my research before designing this. This works with the brief as this was inspired by the geometric shapes from 80s aerobics posters.

The pictures were chosen as the models are using modern gym equipment that the gym provides. The logo was one that was provided by the client and the models were edited to all wear black or shades of black as this matched well with the colour scheme chosen previously.

The text has been edited to a variety of sizes as this helps to emphasise text hierarchy and it helps the reader know what to look at in order as well as the placement of the text being that the most important information is further towards the top than the other information.
