İstanbul Boğazı is the Turkish name for the Istanbul Strait, a narrow and winding waterway that connects the Black Sea to the Sea of Marmara, and separates the European and Asian sides of Istanbul, Türkiye. The Istanbul Strait is a natural strait with a length of about 30 kilometers (19 miles) and a width that varies between 700 meters (2,300 feet) and 3.7 kilometers (2.3 miles) at its widest point. The Istanbul Strait is an important shipping route for international trade, and it is also a popular tourist attraction, with many historical and scenic landmarks along its shores, including the Bosphorus Bridge and the Topkapi Palace.
