1. In the space below, provide a complete and accurate description of your artwork.
On my hanging piece the first part you notice is the log at the top. This piece is meant to look like a real piece of wood from a tree as if it had fallen down. Then there is the main part of the piece front and center. It is meant to look like a pot that has broken over time and there is a little garden inside the pot growing from the destruction. Finally, there is a little vine with flowers and even a butterfly hanging from outside of the broken pot continuing from the garden within.

2. In the space below, explain and defend your use of relevant elements of art and principles of design used in your work of art.  (line, shape, color, pattern, texture, form, balance, rhythm, movement, proportion, emphasis, variety, unity, space)
In my piece I relied on the use of pattern, texture, color, and detail. I used pattern on the outside of the pot by making a symmetrical design of flowers. It is meant to look pretty in contrast to the broken pot. Then I used texture mainly on the log and inside of the pot. This was to make the log and the mossy and grassy part inside of the pot look more realistic. Inside of the pot is where I really paid attention to detail by adding this texture and many other little elements. You are meant to find more and more details the more you look at the piece. Finally, I used color to draw attention to certain elements of the piece.

3.  In order to create this piece I first created each part using the pinching method. Then I added details using my tools like the wooden tool and the needle tool. After that I made holes so I could later sting the yarn through and connect all of the pieces. After all the parts were fired I picked out my glaze colors and made sure to follow the proper glazing steps like using 3 coats of glaze and washing off the oils and dust. After the second firing I started to assemble the piece and played around with the spacing and order of the parts. When I finally decided on the order that looked best I used string to attach the pieces.
