This has been on my hard drive for months and I realise that it's outdated but would like to share.
My take on the extremely over done and common practice of EXTRUDED 3D TYPE.

MAKING OF
Modelling, camera and basic lighting made in Cinema 4D.
Simple texturing and global illumination added to 'ON' lights.
Textures and surface displacenment applied to the floor and background.
Lighting on edges of letters picked out and higlighted.
Alternate surfaces textured and highlighted to give a metallic look.
Minor colour adjustments applied to whole image.
Lighting effects and particles applied to the word 'ON'. Additional colour has also been applied to make it 'pop'.
Voila! Fin.
