Sharon Clark, owner of Sew U Embroider, approached me for a logo design for her new embroidery business in the fall of 2013. The logo was designed to integrate the idea of "fresh inspiration" from her tagline and combine it with embroidery references. Inspiration naturally conjured images of light bulbs for me. Initially, I made the body of the light bulb as a shape made from the sewn thread, and the base depicted as a spool of thread and a sewing needle tucked within. The color palette and accents were chosen by the client from several options I provided. The actual shape of the light bulb was eventually added, rather than keeping it defined by negative space, to give the logo more punch.
