When in America
20 x 30"
Acrylic & mixed media clippings on coverweight paper
Mounted on aged matte board
This started off as an art history project where I had to study one specific artist and create a piece replicating his process and style. My artist of choice was Eduardo Paolozzi, however I realize after finishing the piece that I definitely added my own flavor to it. But in the end I'm quite excited about how it turned out.
This piece is a combination of acrylic paint and clippings from original 1940's LIFE magazines, wrapping paper and a bullseye from a target I shot with a 9mm. It is my statement of embracing american culture/pop culture while still paying recognition to my Canadian heritage. I really hope to continue in this style and create more pieces in the near future.
