The Deadly Explorer Trail
Working with BBC Earth, Deadly and Whipsnade Zoo we were given the project to produce an event that would draw costumers to Whipsnade zoo. The idea we came up with was “became a safari person for the day” as this was aimed at people aged between 6 -12 who have seen the deadly show before. Working closely with the BBC and CBBC we kept as on brand as possible making it easy to see that this was part of the Deadly family. As this was to be in a zoo the boards and visuals had to be on a big scale with bright colours. The event was split into sections, ‘The main HQ’ ‘Deadly Detectives’  ‘Deadly Look-Out’ ‘ Deadly Sounds’ ‘Deadly Dung’ and ‘ Deadly Dress up’ At the main HQ is where the safari begins they would be told what they had to do, where to go and be given a log book where they could travel round the zoo, collect information by answering question on the boards and noting them in the logbook. Each section would have an activate to complete in order to gain the information to put in their logbook, after all sections are complete they would return to the main HQ where they could find out how many questions were correct.

The 6 different sections along the trail.
8 Deadly Detective Boards, 900x1500 / 750x1000

The detective boards cover many different sections here you would learn about Animal homes, Signs of Animal feeding, Fur and markings, Animal Habitats, How to track animals and Animal skulls and bones. Each board has information that relates to the mutable choice question on the board; you then note the answer down in the logbook.
Deadly Dung 750x1000 / 2440x500

This section is a different you have the boards explaining what to do and giving you information but inside the hut there is boxes with real animal 'dung' that has been frozen in a gel, your task is to examine the 'dung' and work out what dung belongs to what animal. Clues are provided of course.
Deadly Look-Out 750x1000 / 600x600

This section you would enter a look-out booth, almost like a bird watching shelter, here you will 'look out' over the zoo where there are the 'deadly logo skulls' scattered around in trees ect. You have to spot as many as you can then note down your number in the logbook.
Also there is information about the best way to observe animals.
Deadly Sounds 750x1000 / 500x500

At the deadly sounds hut there is 5 buttons in which you can press, your job is to press the buttons and listen carefully to work about what sounds belong to what animal.

A5 Log Book

This is the main A5 logbook that would be given to every person that is on the safari. This book provides you with information, a map of the zoo and where to find the deadly activities. Sections in the book to fill in your answers to the questions on the boards at each section. At the end of your safari you would then bring the book back to HQ to find out how many you got right and receive the deadly stamp to prove you are a true deadly explorer.
