Keep it simple, silly! Clear and concise wayfinding is essential to getting your customers where they want to go on your website. For this project I'm designing a simple, clean global navigation bar for the Pacific Blue Cross website and using ample white space between the elements.
And because many visitors to this website are current customers who want quick access to their coverage/claims information from their Member Profile account, that particular sign in menu is a constant part of the global nav. This will save customers time by allowing them to sign in directly to their account from wherever they may be on the website.
As usual, I based my layout on the 8-point grid system used by many CX/UX/UI designers far more talented than I. This system not only gives some order/rhythm to the layout, it also helps me steer clear of the dreaded “visual pizza” style of design. BTW I love pizza, just not the visual kind.
