Desenvolvida pelo engenheiro agrônomo Cícero Matias, a cartilha é o produto final de conclusão do seu Mestrado Profissional em Rede Nacional para Ensino das ciências Ambientais, da Universidade Federal de Pernambuco – PROFCIAMB. Ela foi elaborada com o objetivo de orientar os alunos do 5º ao 8º ano e agricultores da comunidade de Serro Azul, zona rural de Palmares – PE, sobre o manejo sustentável do solo, contribuindo para diminuir as agressões ambientais causadas ao solo, melhorar a produção agrícola da região e melhoria do ensino aprendizagem, na Escola Municipal Monsenhor Abílio Américo Galvão.

The Booklet, developed by the agricultural engineer Cícero Matias, is the final product of his Professional Master's Degree in the National Network for Teaching Environmental Sciences, at the Federal University of Pernambuco - PROFCIAMB. It was designed with the aim of guiding students from the 5th to 8th grade and farmers in the Serro Azul community, in the rural area of Palmares - PE, on sustainable soil management, helping to reduce environmental aggressions caused to the soil, improve production agriculture in the region and improvement of teaching and learning at the Monsenhor Abílio Américo Galvão Municipal School.

A proposta foi de elaborar um projeto gráfico atrativo com elementos e ilustrações que se comunicasse com o público-alvo (Estudantes do 5º ao 8º ano e agricultores) e ao mesmo tempo auxiliasse de forma positiva na orientação de professores da região de Serro Azul.

The proposal was to develop an attractive graphic design with elements and illustrations that would communicate with the target audience (5th to 8th grade students and farmers) and at the same time help positively in the guidance of teachers in the Serro Azul region.

Através da proposta feita por Cícero, foram elaboradas ilustrações objetivas juntamente com uma organização gráfica que facilitasse a compreensão dos estudantes e agricultores, adotando um estilo moderno, objetivo e dinâmico. As cores foram um ponto chave para direcionar e destacar informações importantes do conteúdo da cartilha, utilizando tarjas e elementos gráficos com variações da cor verde que são associadas ao meio ambiente e o laranja que transmite a ideia de algo amigável e divertido, além de possuir um contraste agradável em relação a cor verde.

Through the proposal made by Cícero, objective illustrations were prepared along with a graphic organization that facilitated the understanding of students and farmers, adopting a modern, objective and dynamic style. The colors were a key point in directing and highlighting important information in the booklet's content, using stripes and graphic elements with variations of the color green that are associated with the environment and orange that conveys the idea of something friendly and fun, in addition to having a pleasant contrast against the green color.
