DES16 Project 4: Poster Design
I designed a tour poster for Tatsuya Kitani, a Japanese pop and rock singer's, "Hugs Vol.5 Tour" for this project. The mini tour consists of 3 dates and locations each featuring a different band: indigo la End, Hitorie, and ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION. The poster is meant to present tour information and urge the viewer to purchase a ticket (by using the qr code).
Initial Sketches
The main elements of the poster designs are: Tatsuya Kitani's eye logo, name in both English and Japanese, his picture, the tour info (collaborators, dates, and locations), as well as a qr code for ticket purchase.
Color Editing/Photoshop (Before vs. After)
I used curves and color balance to match a consistent purple and cyan color theme for all the images.
Final Design Editing
The image on the left is the final design draft prior to adding the dust overlay and color editing as seen in the final design on the right.
Final Design
The final poster design features a purple theme and both English and Japanese in its text to appeal to both Japanese people and the general public. I chose a dark purple and cyan color theme to create a grunge rock band aesthetic, and sans serif fonts to present clear and impactful headers and minimalistic body text (dates, locations, ticket info, etc).
Version 2 (Draft)
As one of the two draft versions, this design focuses on showcasing clear and legible information with a minimalistic layout and typography. It also serves as a lighter counterpart of the final design in a poster set.
