I wanted to try portrait painting and how light affects the colour and definition of a person. I love the use of light can warm up a persons face. And how different colours in the environment can enhance and change with the light of the painting and figure.

 

Using greens for the background to contrast the reds used in her face helped to bring more warmth into the piece.
