Anon(ymous) Projections

Anon(ymous) by Naomi Iizuka
Projection Design
The projections for this production served to underscore the war Anon and his mother escaped and sometimes to help create the environment. It was important to me as both the director and the projection designer to blend the two dimensional Edward Gorey-esque world of the Americans with the very real situations of the displaced characters. For example, in Zyclo's butchery shop, I projected cartoonish cuts of meat against the wall next to a freezer with realistic 3D cuts of meat. The juxtaposition of the comic and the real help to illustrate the tension of the worlds Anon must navigate.
War Montage
I opened the show with this montage created from news clippings over the last decade. It was backed by a sound that matched with explosions at times, but then faded into announcer voices.
Blue Butterfly
At the end of the play the shroud that Nemessani creates is supposed to turn into a butterfly with beautiful blue wings. I made this butterfly using After Effects
Cartoon Wall of Meat
This was projected onto the stage right wall during the Zyclo scene.
Tunnel Graffiti
This slide was projected onto the stage left wall during the scene where Anon and Pascal have escaped from the police into an underground tunnel.
