I am fascinated by the strict blue and white “color code” of a Greek town on the Santorini Island, Greece. So I decided to recreate some buildings. I love the simplicity of the colors and the complexity of the arrangement of the buildings. The narrow pathways and stairs surrounded by blue and white buildings with no apparent alignment makes the town seem cluttered, complex, and alive.
I wanted to experiment with columns and arches so I tried it. The inspiration came from a picture I saw of a corridor made of bricks and stone. I believe the article following it talked about quick and inexpensive lighting methods to realistically simulate real world lighting. This was rendered with Cycles, another render engine inside Blender. Cycles features more realistic light bouncing which I tried to play with. I was originally going to apply a brick and stone texture to the model, but I feel like this minimalistic look is interesting by itself.

Simplicity

Love the architecture and color of this Greek city. Use Blender and Photoshop to design and model this project.
