Ceremony of Overconsumption

Ceremony of Overconsumption : Live Project - Nov 2021
For COP 26 and a UAL (University of the Arts London) hosted protest named the Carnival of Crisis, our group planned and curated a large-scale tea party in which we showcase and personify the extractive processes of the consumption of tea.

As a group, we explored the extractive relationship that humans have with the non-living. What was once a hugely important trade to the East India Trading Company and a commodity reserved exclusively for the upper classes, tea drinking is now enshrined not only in British culture, but in many cultures across the world. How do the organisms feel as they are farmed? During the brewing process? Would you knowingly drink the tea if you could see what went into each cup?
