Expurgate is an installation of plaster castings of my fingers strung on the wall with thread.
Inspired by my personal experience as an amputee, I aimed to convey the fragility of the human body and the expendability of the body. Expurgate is a literary and artistic term referring to the omission or removal of matter deemed offensive or unnecessary to the whole of the work. Our digits and limbs, while precious, are not actually vital to the integral functions of the body. They can be arranged and removed, as the subjects of Expurgate are.
