Ruins of the Pashkov Palace

In my state, cultural heritage is not given due attention. Nepotism, corruption and disregard for the past lead to terrible consequences, which are displayed in the photographs: one of the most famous palaces in my province is being destroyed before our eyes.

The Pashkov Palace is a complex of stone structures, the wholeness of which is no longer customary to talk about. The wooden parts have rotted away, the metal wrought iron parts have been stolen, leaving only red bricks and trees so embarrassed by this ugliness that they want to decorate the walls with themselves.
This palace was surrounded by legends and gossip. It was rumored that the owners of the palace were cursed because they destroyed the church in order to build a house. It was also said that there were secret corridors and cellars where Masonic meetings were held.

It breaks my heart to think that the only secret of this palace is the moment when the decisive spirit of the wind will bring down the last red wall.

Now we remember the Victorian era and admire the creations of various royal periods, but our children will look at high-rise buildings, gray monuments and other legacy of communism and imagine us like boring, sad and cruel ancestors who wasn't be able to see beauty. But we can, it's just that the government is taking away the last bits of it from us.

Therefore, here are my words - take care of the beauty around you, it is ubiquitous and so diverse. Take care, if not for yourself, then for your children. Save your conscience.
