NONSENSE - Exhibition opening of Ferenc István Simon

Feri was born in 1992 in Szeged. His first encounter with art took place in the workshop of his grandfather who was a painter. Being a creator captivated him like a force of nature when he was a child. Since the first encounter, he tried himself in many art forms, but the freedom given by the painting studio was never forgotten. During his art studies, he spent a decade on stage as a dancer, then he designed costumes nd clothing items and is still a creator of stage productions as a set and costume designer.

The reason for going back to the roots is quite simple. He needed a tool to give space to his own stories. The (re)discovery of a voice that is honest, free of expectations and is most of all joyful has become a priority. Escape from the suffocating reality of everyday life into the safety of one’s own creative world. The selected works of the exhibition is a collection of depictions of thoughts, feelings and desires. Elements of the absurd world around us and those born within the creator - into which we are granted insight.

"With my works, I interpret the events that happen to me and around me through continuous self-reflection. For me, creation is the meeting place of my conscious and subconscious self, where lived reality takes physical form. Preliminary planning and contingency both appear in my works, drawing inspiration from the experiences of lived reality. I believe that there is an inner world in all of us, into which we sometimes give insight to others, but only we ourselves can really discover it. My pictures bear the traces of the realities I have experienced, be it a moment of unbothered calm or the most suffocating abyss."

The exhibition is opened by art historian Zsófia Szabó
