A Change of Diet

Eating insects (aka entomophagy) remains a taboo in the western world, despite the benefits this would have to the environment and our diets.

I've approached this sensitive topic with humour, creating a playful composition of similes. I have replaced the utensils with parts of insect anatomy, such as a rhino beetle instead of a fork and the proboscis of a butterfly in the place of a straw.

The food is scaled down, in contrast to the large hands and plate, to evoke bugs. It has also been given an ambiguous look, leaving the viewer to decide what each ingredient is.
