The subject of exploration for this project was color and the feelings they evoke. While green is a very beautiful color that often reminds me of nature and peace, it is also heavily associated with money, greed, and envy.  This reminded me of a topic that I learned about in history class about an instance of corruption in the church in regards to the selling of "indulgences" to people to ensure that their loved ones that had passed would rest peacefully in heaven.
Inspired by the
decorative elements
of the dollar bill

I decided to combine religious imagery with the decorative elements found on the U.S. dollar bill to make the commentary that sometimes people worship money and power so much it's like their religion. The fact that there is such a notorious presence of corruption in an institution that claims to be so self-righteous shows how prevalent the issue of money and power is.
juxtaposing
religion and money

The body copy is a narrative I wrote about a man who is so detached from his life because of his desire to be the most powerful man through his wealth. His relationships are superficial, and his morals are constantly put into question. There exists an emptiness inside of him that doesn't seem to be filled with any material possession, but his hopes are that once he accomplishes his goals, he will be happy. In the end, he loses everyone, including himself.
