KARABINA | Brand Identity Project

BACKSTORY
Basically, I didn't want to add this backstory initially, but omoor! I went through quite an ordeal whilst working on this project and I am proud of how I didn't give up but pulled this through. Even though, this took way longer than it should, I'd summarize you on the journey process.

It started as a logo challenge back in March, this year. I was in a community of designers, and we were tasked to work on this. During the research process, I saw more than a logo and wanted to take the identity design further. The spark to take it wide and wild ignited and I got to work.

Moving on, I started it and it was going all smooth. I enjoyed every bit of the thinking process, sketching, ideations, research, deliberations and more importantly, the masterpiece I was creating.

On a fateful morning, the uneventful happened, I don't know how, but I lost the whole file of this project at, say 70% completion. Omo! I was almost moved to tears, I was sober, really sober. It was strings of emotions raging all over me. I didn't even know how I felt at that time, but I knew I was so pained and miserable.

How I got to start all over and run through all the process again is what I do not understand. I just did it again, this time with high spirits and fresh creative interpretation of my ideas.

This project means a lot to me and I'm in the know that some creatives have probably encountered same or similar situation. Well, I'm glad you didn't give up too, glad you faced it head-on and picked it up again, glad you are done with it now. Thumbs up👍. Well, if you gave up and abandoned it... take this as your call to go pick it up again and face it like the champ that you are!

Adding this backstory has been some sort of delay to this project coming live on here, but finally, it is LIVE!

THE BRAND
The brand name, Karabina, is a modified word from Carabiner; a coupling link with a safety closure. Carabiner originated from the German word - Karabinerhaken.

Karabina is an organization that helps to rescue people in war situations. They work in war torn places to rescue stranded civilians, provide food and supplies and give medical aid.

Their targets are of course, war victims either old or young. Thence, they needed a functional brand identity design that could effectively communicate hope and their personality, with preference being ‘distinct, easily identifiable and simple’.

The personnel that structure this organization and propagate their services include medical doctors, security, paramedics, pilots, health attendants, drivers and a host of others.

COLOURS
The colours were carefully chosen to serve identification purposes for this brand, rather than functional purposes; with the intent of making the brand stand out.

VISUAL PATTERNS
The forewings was replicated to create the brand pattern; which is built around the brand's value. This will aid people in connecting with the brand more emotionally.
