REVOLUTION, REVISION;

Revolution, Revision

A book’s lasting impact is not only evident in the truths it communicates, but in the critical reception it generates.The folded concertina zine, Revolution, Revision collates various critics’ quotes within a typographic data narrative to depict the shifting significance of Betty Friedan’s 1963 feminist publication, The Feminine Mystique.

As they navigate through excerpts from interviews, articles and revisionist literature, readers begin to ‘unfold’ the ‘mystique’ of Friedan’s personality and are compelled to acknowledge both her achievements and controversies. This ensures her impact is not hailed solely as revolutionary, but revised to convey the seminality of The Feminine Mystique within in its time, and its later outdatedness to the intersectional nature of the modern feminist movement.
