Taekwondo Flyer Update

Taekwondo Flyer Update Project
In my Media Design class, I was asked to find a piece of print media that did not communicate effectively and update it to communicate well while being visually appealing. I chose to redesign my taekwondo team flyers.
The previous flyers contained outdated and vague information that did not tell interested parties necessary information about the team. The images do not draw the viewer or highlight the sport of taekwondo.
For inspiration I looked to a post other students had previously designed specifically for Instagram as well as Liberty hockey's Instagram. I liked the inclusion of this photograph of my teammates, but felt that the color palette and layout should be more consistent with Liberty's style overall. I found a 2016 Liberty Brand Guide online which I used to select colors and find similar fonts. For clean editing and proper sizing I edited my own transparent PNG of my teammates from the original photo.
The final flyer contains edited versions of Adobe fonts made to look like Liberty's official fonts, colors taken from the brand guidelines, and a transparent copy of the LU logo found online. I liked the inclusion of the transparent logo in the Liberty D1 Hockey posts and thought it added visual interest to the flyer without distracting from the kicking photo. Because newcomers are the target audience, I wanted the focal point to be the first thing people think of in relation to taekwondo: kicking.
I made small vector icons as bullet points for some of the updated information as another way to quickly draw attention, a few taglines, and a border for brand cohesiveness.
The final product is clearer, more concise, and fits more with the Liberty Club Sports brand than the original flyer.
