Information
One foggy board game night late in the evening, a buddy approaches me inquiring about having me make a logo for him. As enthused as always, I tell him "Hell yeah I can!". He proceeds to tell me about his father's farm and how he's always wanted a logo for it, so that he could make shirts, maybe truck decals... something to use on letterheads and the likes.

He briefly flashes me a picture of this picture-esque feather-white barn laid out over a dusky blue cloudy sky. My brief glance was from across a table mind you; but my brain got right to work, and I instantly knew that photo alone would make for a really clean logo!

Adobe Illustrator proved easy work recreating the barn out of many individual shapes, lines, and strokes. The silo was only slightly more challenging trying to incorporate the tube that scales the length of its wall.

Out of all things, I get hung up on the text banner. At first my idea was to create a shape similar to a wooden farm/ranch sign; which turned out 'okay' but ultimately felt a little too hefty as if it took away from the barn graphic as the focal point. Not knowing exactly where to go from here, I tell the client "We can do anything!" so I gather up a handful of screenshots, of varying shapes, and banner styles from google images and send them over getting his precious input as well.

Next, together we landed on your traditional tapestry style banner, you know, the one that looks like a scroll laid out over just about anything! Well it turned out just 'okay' also, and that's not what we're aiming for ever. My client lastly mentions "what if the barn was sitting on rolling hills, and the text had no border." I felt as if a total new style was in order, and this would very likely look very good... but I wasn't sure how I was going to pull it off.

After just a couple sketches, I felt like I had figured it out!

I took to Illustrator once more, this time with my drawing tablet and penned in some smooth curvy flat hills just over the bottom of the barn. This added a necessary amount of depth to the already 3D graphic; together we took our 'okay' ideas and transitioned into 'AMAZING'.
Testimonial
"Can’t speak highly enough of the job Brandon did here. He was able to incorporate the actual farm structures from pictures and he made the suggestions I had even better than I pictured them. If you own a small business in need of a logo that pops, or just need designs for gift ideas, Brandon’s definitely your man."
