This is the second project required by my Basic Design course.
I was asked to produce a 60s pattern, suitable for fabrics and wallpaper, and also to change the colors to remind of some of the various movement of that decade.

As regards the shape, I drew inspiration from the Maija Isola works for Marimekko, which I appreciated for their strenght and semplicity, thanks to which a floral drawing can turn into a minimal geometrical design.
I like this design also because it is easily adaptable to the various and beautiful 60s moods.

The first 60s style that immediately comes to my mind is the optical, which alternates black and white as seen in the masterpieces of Victor Vaserely and Alberto Biasi.
In my opinion this was a very popular and party-related style at the time, so the perfect sountrack comes from a celebrated and funny movie.

Another sixties style I love is the one Gio Ponti used for the ceramic tiles in the Parco dei Principi Hotel.
I applied the colours he chose to my pattern and I also changed a little the disposition of the modules.
The more rigorous and geometric design reminds me of jazz standard, so here it is Herbie Ancock in 1964:

For the last version, I drew inspiration from the psichedelic movement, and in particolar from Victor Moscoso artworks  for the color palette.
