Hairdryer Manufacturing Project
This project was part of a manufacturing module. The aim was to design a comtemporary hair dryer and complete a ‘Design for Manufacturing’ report. The target market was 18-25 age group and manufacturing was to remain in Ireland.
As my concept, I decided to target young professionals within the target age group and design a stylish, well designed limited edition product.
I created moodboards to convey the desired aesthetic and feel.
As one of the main concepts was to create a limited edition product, each unit will have the unit number stamped into it.
A 'Design For Manufacturing' report was also completed as part of the project. A full assembly step by step was created. The final concept used a sinlgle backplate with all inner components mounted to it and the external casing attached last.
An overall production flow was also created showing each assembly process (P) and all inspection points (i).
Material analysis was conducted to establish which materials to use and create a production cost estimate.
