Location: Hepworth Gallery, Wakefield UK

Quick panning technique used here to create some blur having not brought a tripod - worked quite well for a complete experiment. Preset applied in Lightroom 5 to enhance the monochrome and give an almost painted aesthetic. As people dont have a tendency to move so much in galleries the obvious solution was to move myself instead of the subject.
Superb location and they generously let you take photos in most places. The gallery itself is interesting to make images with and the exhibitions become secondary to some of the geometric patterns and bursts of light.

The blur of the person walking and the in-focus elements help to add some detail to the semi abstract nature of the blurred figure. The partially focused images on the wall of the gallery add some context to the image; they provide the narrative to the image. The clean, sharp lines that are synonymous with gallery spaces are emphasised more by being in focus.
The suggestion of movement is very strong in this image and is less abstract then the previous - probably because there is more detail in the figures face and the child's shoe is still very much in focus. Again, the narrative is there in this image, but the tranquility of the gallery space is somewhat disturbed by these moving figures; the reflection in the floor and the white walls are really suggest the environment of the gallery to the viewer.
I like how the in focus silhouette of one figure contrasts with the slightly out of focus but highly detailed figure in the backgroung - it almost suggests two separate images within one.
