Magazine Redesign: Entertainment Weekly

Magazine Redesign: Entertainment Weekly

Entertainment Weekly (sometimes abbreviated as EW) is an American magazine, published by the Time division of Time Warner, that covers film, television, music, Broadway theatre, books and popular culture.
Different from celebrity-focused publications like Us Weekly, People Weekly (a sister magazine to EW), and In Touch Weekly, EW primarily concentrates on entertainment media news and critical reviews. And unlike Variety and The Hollywood Reporter, which are aimed at industry insiders, EW targets a more general audience.
Brief/ Objective: Magazine Selection and Redesign

The objective of this assignment was to select a magazine and to redesign different sections of a magazine (such as the table of contents, ) but mainly the feature story. The learning outcome was to study the anatomy and architectural structure of a magazine (such as placement of the headline, byline, deck, lead, caption, spread, folios etc.), and to create a master page for  consistency for layouts by incorporating a grid system, baseline and margin.
