CULTUS Pavilion
Uniting people through food
The Cultus Pavilion placed in Piazzale Archinto, located in the Isola District of Milan, intends to bring new life to a square that was once dominated by cars.

As the district is composed by various social and age groups the starting point of the project was to understand what thematic could unite such various demographic. This nurtured the idea that all people may come together to share a meal, which led to the development of a collection of pavilions that explain the processes of food production, and allow visitors to consume the food produced locally on hydroponic gardens located on the roofs.
The structure was designed in such a way that allowed it's fast assemblage and transportation. Creating a modular system with steel waffle systems for the roofs and pavements, recovered with recycled plastic sheets. This allowed the placement of insulation and technical systems in between the beams that compose the waffle.

The columns were also designed in steel and made as light as possible, ensuring that the weight of the roof plantations would be well supported without interfering too much on the ground floor atmosphere.
The shop placed at the end of the path allows the visitors to give continuity to their experience at home, creating their very own hydroponic gardens.
The plantations on the roof serve as an interactive experience to visitors generating entertainement also to younglings.
