In 2011 I was participating in a workshop organized by IKEA Poland. The aim was to redesign objects that IKEA already has in its offer. We recieved predetermined amount of money that we could spend in IKEA shop in order to gain supplies for our designs. We had two days to present final object.
I decided to work with well known item- RUSH wall clock designed by K.Hagberg and M.Hagberg. My plan was to dissasamble it into prime parts and build something from it. That's how I've created three lamps.
From casings of the clocks I've created two lampshades for table and floor lamp. They are a set that can be used in living room, as well as in the bedroom. The light travels through bright polypropylene surface, that gives a very warm and cozy effect.
From faces, hands and mechanisms of the clocks I’ve created floor lamp. What is unusual in this design is the usage of twelve fully functional clocks. That means that lamp not only statically gives us the light, but also drops shadows that are in constant movement. The faces of the clocks are made from transparent plastic which gives an insight in work of whole mechanism.
