Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) : Data Visualization

Female genital mutilation (FGM) comprises all procedures that involve partial or total removal of the external female genitalia, or other injury to the female genital organs for non-medical reasons. More than 200 million girls and women alive today have been cut in 30 countries in Africa, the Middle East and Asia where FGM is concentrated. It is practice that leads to various consequences and needs large among of attention to be driven to by increasing awareness in various parts of the society.

The above topic, Female Genital Mutilation was picked to be represented as being a part of a fellowship with Teach for India about Menstrual Health & Hygiene really awakened the thought in me that so many people out there were unaware of such a tragic yet sensitive practice which needed to be brought forward statistically so as to understand the seriousness of it. The data visualization is done in the form of an interactive interface (link attached below). The aim is to spread awareness about the dangerous practice of FGM by showing it's global perspective.
