NL Community Center

NL Community Center
NL Community Center is located in the Nikola-Lenivets Art Park, in the new glamping “Zvizhanka” on a beautiful plateau on the high bank of the Ugra River, surrounded by a young pine forest. This location provides to visitors a view on the river valley and one of the new objects of lead artist and founder of the Art-Park Nikolai Polissky "Ugruan". This precious shade, which can be found in the heart of a young pine forest, becomes a meeting place for guests, locals, artists, cultural and art-workers. A cozy cafe with a wooden deck and an openwork facade has already become the center of a variety of events: lectures, public, music events and other events will become a center of community life.
The visual image of the object is characterized by a double truss frame, attached to vertical supports at different angles. This solution compensates the thickness of the structure due to the openwork pattern in the stiffness outline. The light construction of wooden elements turns the object into a hero of a mythical plot, referring to the interweaving of fabulous flying buttresses and ancient truss systems. NL Community Center was built by commands of local craftsmen, who usually work together with Nikolay Polissky on his art-objects around the world.

Columns and trusses are designed in such a way as to use boards with a minimum section to use less materials. Waste from the production of other art-objects used for the roof lathing and finishing of the side facades. The roof is made of milky polycarbonate, which can be easily recycled in the future. The minimum usage of metal in the construction allows the dismantling and removal of  it, thereby causing minimal harm to nature and the national park in which the object is located.
The internal scenario of the space of the NL Community Center develops in relation to its location and parts of the world. Several forest paths intersect here: the side facades have their own portals to the forest, and the main stelobath is decorated with an amphitheater overlooking the river, where you can admire the sunset. In the end compartment there is a working area and a small attic-headquarters for rest and meetings. In the deaf pediment, obeying the design pattern, a rose window is cut, which fulfills its main purpose: it gives guests the rays of the morning sun.

“Several years we have collaborated with Maria in development of the Art-Park and its infrustructure. I believe that this object is a good example not only successful and smart architecture, but NL Community Center can spread the community life of Nikola-Lenivets and connect local, art and tourists people in one place”, - says Nikolay Polissky founder and lead artist of Nikola-Lenivets Art-Park.
