Stanley Kubrick - Poster Animation

STANLEY KUBRICK - IF IT CAN BE WRITTEN, OR THOUGHT, IT CAN BE FILMED.
Director Stanley Kubrick was one of the most consistently fascinating filmmakers in the later half of the 20th century.
This project consisted on designing a digital signage proposal for the Stanley Kubrick’s cycle of cinema, where all elements should be designed for screen and use movement (animation) as a resource of expression and organization.

My main inspiration for this project was Kubrick's Arriflex 35 II camera. This camera defined Kubrick and allowed a whole new wave of directors to create their visions with faster, creative shooting.
For the concept, I studied Kubrick's traumatized and unstable characters, such as Alex DeLarge (A Clockwork Orange), PVT. Pyle (Full Metal Jacket) and Jack Torrance (The Shinning).
With all of this research, an important concept was born that related to Kubrick and its characters: the fragmentation of the brain.
Another one of Kubrick's famous traits is his perfection when in comes to filmmaking, that's why the directors camera is split into several smaller sections that fit into each other, making the viewer think of a map (usually related to perfection) that guides them through Kubrick's movies.
