My late grandfather. A character study in his favorite natural habitat- by the sea. Simultaneous but conflicting glimpses of amusement and contemplative thoughtfullness from a man who loved to bask in the sun, but always felt the chill!

Along with Charlie II pictured below, working on developing a slightly looser more characature-esque style, focusing on Charlie's nervous and exeuberant energy and the characterful asymetry in features like his bow-legs, wonky ear, and lopsided expressions. also exploring a new medium- Pigma Micron fineliners and Promarkers.

Playing with perspective and use of highlight to define shape and give structure and texture to dark fur, whilst conveying Charlie's huffy reproach after being turned down for a game of fetch.
