Mowgli: The Way of struggle

"Mowgli. The Way of struggle."
The purpose of this triptych was to show what difficulties Mowgli faced during his growing up.
Initially, I wanted to take and portray a separate episode from his childhood, when he was kidnapped by a gang of monkeys, Banderlogs. It was intended to depict just one rather important moment in his life, when his close friends came to his rescue and rescued him from the distraught monkeys.
But in the end, it was decided that depicting just one scene would not be enough and uninteresting. I wondered why not show a few battles, problems that greatly influenced the formation of Mowgli for to who he is now – a fearless inhabitant of the jungle.
It is unclear what the monkeys are doing, try to save him or steal him. The second sketch well have been the case, but in the third there was no struggle, except in the movements of the tiger. Mowgli just sits humbly, as if he has accepted his fate and is waiting for his end. This is not at all what I wanted to achieve and contradicts the topic I have set.

In the end, I managed to find what I wanted to show. The boy becomes an adult, a brave and courageous person, rising above his most important fear and enemy in his world – Sherkhan.
You can observe how from left to right the figure of Mowgli gradually moves and becomes higher in the composition.

- The boy is at the bottom of the composition. He is weak and defenseless, he has no weapons. The monkeys casually drag him through the trees to their lair. They scream, pull his limbs and look aggressive. Mowgli can't do anything about it and it's hard for him to resist.
- In this image, the figure of Mowgli is already slightly above the center, as is the red wolf that attacks him. Their powers are equal, the wolf has his fangs, and Mowgli has his blade. Who is the winner is not yet clear, but the young man is ready to fight.
- The final composition of the third image. The figure of Mowgli is located in the upper corner of the sheet, he fearlessly towers over his enemy, whose blood runs cold in his veins from fear and the back of his neck bristles before the horror of the "Red Flower", with which Mowgli defeats the Tiger.

As a result, we see the struggle and growth of a boy who was able to defeat his sworn enemy after going through the difficult trials of his life.
Thank you for the watching!
