Munger View Park, Jackson Wyoming

I took the fall semester of my junior year to escape to the Rocky Mountains in beautiful Jackson Hole and attend the Artemis Institute: Remote Studio. This is a design build organization that spends a semester creating projects for local developments. My semester was commissioned with a park for Teton County.
bridge - perforation allows grass to grow up through the bridge and for pedestrians to see the water througpass underneath
bridge - all boards are both deck and support structure
bridge - I hammered all 9 threaded rods through each pre-drilled course on site. these were then sinched in to force friction to work with us in structuring the bridge.
boardwalk - 6-piece deck on steel rail and piles
hand-planed benches
boardwalk - post-tensioned rows of blocks and screws hold z-bench in place, making each of the 6 deck pieces a solid mass weighing over 500 lbs.
trellis - initial design and calculations
trellis - a covered seating area for viewing the changing aspen trees and grand tetons in the distance
trellis - each rough sawn 2x6 louver is spaced and ordered to make the entire system feel as if it were folded or combed into place. all steel was hoisted into place by hand.
trellis - the elegant center of our park
trellis - bench folds down from the roof and on into the ground
trellis - square spacer detail
the front yard of our rental house. the day we left for home.
